Tribute paid to third family member following fatal collision

A THIRD person has died following a road traffic collision that happened near Barry on Saturday, 2nd November.  He has been named by police as Ralph James, 67, from Penarth.

The incident happened on the A4050 at around 1.40pm and the road was closed until the early hours of Sunday from the junction of Port Road East and Barry Dock Link Road to Pugh’s Garden Centre.

Mr James’ cousin, Beverly Pugsley (69), and aunt, Madeline Elaine Brooks (85), died at the scene after the Nissan Micra they were travelling in crashed with an Audi. A fourth victim, aged 24, was also conveyed to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Tribute

The family of Ralph James has paid the following tribute: “He was loved by all his family and the wider community who knew him. He always had time for people and was well known.

“He lived his entire life in the Penarth area and worked at the Cardiff Docks from the age of 18.

“He loved spending time on holiday in the Devon and Cornwall area and spending time with his family.

“Words cannot express the loss we are presently feeling as a family, to lose so many members at one time is heartbreaking.

“Ralph will forever live on in our Hearts and never be forgotten.”

South Wales Police Is continuing to appeal for anyone with information concerning the collision or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
