Cowbridge event will support military preparation college

A charity supper will take place in July at The Bear Hotel, Cowbridge, in aid of The Motivation & Learning Trust (MLT).

It will be hosted by the former Mayor of Cowbridge David Morris BEM, a supporter of the Trust, which helps fund the Motivational Preparation College for Training (MPCT).

The MLT’s aim is to help learners achieve the right levels of education, confidence, and physical fitness for a career of military service – or whatever employment pathway they choose.

The charity’s remit also extends to those who have left any of the organisation’s 32 colleges in England and Wales, with one notable recipient of funding the British Paralympian Dan Sheen. A British Army veteran who lost his left leg as the result of an explosion while serving in Afghanistan, he recently competed in the alpine skiing event at the Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing. Having struggled in the aftermath of his injury, the charity contributed toward the purchase of specialist equipment to enable him to pursue his dream.

While they have recently raised over £23,000 for the UNICEF Ukraine Appeal (with the Welsh colleges alone contributing more than £5,500), the MLT’s key fundraisers are the MPCT learners themselves. Now, after two years of covid restrictions, they are delighted to be able to get out raising funds to support their peers.

Taking place on place on Friday 22nd July at the Bear Hotel, Cowbridge at 6.30pm, the evening will feature a two-course supper, coffee, and raffle as well as live entertainment.
