AN independent bike shop from the Vale of Glamorgan has scooped the national award of Welsh Independent Bike Shop of the Year for 2024.
The Bike Shop Wales is a Penarth-based company on Upper Glebe Street near the town centre that says it is honoured to have received such an accolade for the second time.
Prior to the COVID pandemic, The Bike Shop Wales first won the award prior to the annual competition being suspended until this year.

For over a decade, the shop has been providing quality new and pre-loved bikes, electric bikes, cycling accessories and top-rated servicing and repairs available in Cardiff and the Vale.
The owners believe they have the largest selection of in stock and onsite parts of any shop in Wales. Many emergency or simple repairs can even be carried out while you wait.
Owner Karey Sharp said: “We are honoured to have been selected as the Welsh Independent Bike Shop of the Year for 2024. We have such an amazing team, and we love being part of this dynamic community where we are able to provide the products and services that people can rely on.
“As the business moves forward, the websites are being redesigned to reflect the variety and quality of the services on offer, as well as the fact that it is the premier electric bike service and repair shop in south Wales.”
“The great British summer is now in full swing. So, if you need a new bike, want to have a test ride of an electric bike, or need a repair or service, just give us a call.”
The Bike Shop Wales, on The Barrage and 86 Glebe Street, Penarth CF64 1EF. Tel: 02920704524.
