Penarth will face Island Marine in Cup Final

Vale of Glamorgan Football League round up

IT WAS semi-final day for two of the divisional cups, with the Supporters Cup and Dockers Cup taking the spotlight.

In the Supporters Cup it was deja vu as Penarth Town dumped St Athan out on penalties, just as they had done in the Barry Cup back in November. David Shallis put Penarth ahead before Sean Nash levelled and it was up to spot kicks to decide with St Athan missing two and Penarth booked their place at Jenner Park on 13 April.

Penarth will face Island Marine in the final as they saw off their Barry Island rivals Barry Athletic 1-0. They left it late though with Brad Enticott hitting the winner in the final minute.

In the Dockers Cup, Cwm Talwg’s treble dreams are still on as they came out 2-1 winners over Cardiff Airport Vets. Cole Roberts put Talwg ahead before Gareth Griffiths levelled for the Vets, but Ellis Howe scored the decisive goal to send Talwg into the 5 April final at Jenner Park.

Peterston Super Ely will await Cwm Talwg as they edged Barry Athletic Reserves 5-4. Jon Wooten hit a hat trick for PSE as they led 5-2 before Athletic scored twice late on to set up a nervy finish, but Peterston held on to book their final place.

In the Premier Division, Nathan Evans and Finley Floyd had given Vale United a 0-2 lead away against AFC Rhoose, but Rhoose fought back in stoppage time with goals from Harry Fisher and Tom Cole in the 91st and 92nd minutes to ensure a share of the points.

A goal fest at the Buttrills saw Tynewydd defeat Cadoxton Imps 9-4!! Nathan Williams scored four and Nathan Donnelly hit five in a crazy game that moves Tynewydd up to fourth.

In the Championship, unbeaten Vale Madrid finally went top of the table with a 6-1 win over Cogan Coronation Reserves. Cory James and David Evans both scored twice as VM go two points ahead of Cwm Talwg with a game in hand.

Rhoose Social came from behind to defeat St Athan Reserves 2-1, Rory Ellis and Chris Morgan with the Social goals.

In League One, Porthkerry Panthers stay top with a narrow 1-0 win over Barry Athletic Development. Jake Davies came off the bench to score a last gasp winner in the 94th minute.

Dinas Powys Development saw off Ely Rangers Wenvoe 4-0, Mike Lazarou scoring twice as Dinas sit one point off Porthkerry but with three games in hand.
