A 19-YEAR-OLD paedophile from Barry has been sent to a young offender institution for 16 months and ordered to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years after child rape videos were discovered on his smartphone.
In March, Marley Bracher was handed a suspended prison sentence at Cardiff Crown Court for making indecent images of children, and was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Bracher’s latest offences came to light in June when the police officer supervising him following his earlier conviction searched his phone and discovered two category A images, the most serious kind, one category B and 23 category C.
Bracher’s phone contained further instances of him ignoring the terms of his SHPO.
The order forbade Bracher from contacting anyone under the age of 18, but he was found to have messaged a 15-year-old girl who sent him a picture of herself wearing a school uniform.
Other breaches of Bracher’s SHPO included him deleting his web browsing history for 170 searches, and he set up Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat accounts using aliases.
Bracher gave no comment during the subsequent police interview.
Appearing in court for his latest offences, Bracher pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and three counts of breaching the terms of his SHPO.
Richard Ace, representing Bracher, acknowledged that his client had a “deep-seated” problem, but urged the judge to spare him a custodial sentence so that he could be treated in the community.
Passing sentence, Judge Eugene Egan told Bracher: “You present a high risk of reoffending, and you breached your order soon after it was made.
“You only have yourself to blame, you were given a chance in March, and you didn’t take it.”
