Opportunity to support Armed Forces Day 2023

Armed Forces Day 2023 is an opportunity for everyone to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community of the UK – from serving troops, veterans and families.
An Armed Forces Day event will take place this year in Bridgend town centre on Saturday (24th June) between 10.30am and 2pm.

Military vehicles, musical entertainment, activities, and stalls representing Armed Forces organisations and charities will also be taking part in the event, which is being organised by Bridgend Town Council.
The South Wales Police Band will also lead a parade from Carnegie House at 11am, and the salute will be taken by Mr Peter Vaughan, Lord Lieutenant of Mid Glamorgan. The event will close with a Drumhead Service at 1.45pm.
Showing support for the Armed Forces provides a much valued morale boost for UK troops and families. To find out more on do at home and around the world vist the official sites of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force.
The UK Armed Forces defend the UK and its interests. They operate around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers, providing security and fighting terrorism.
A veteran of the HM Armed Forces is someone who has served at any time (including National Servicemen, Regulars and Reserves). Armed Forces Day also celebrates their continued role within the military community.
Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, Air Cadets and the Combined Cadet Force currently support over 130,000 young people in more than 3,000 locations across the UK. Cadets learn life and career building skills as well as gaining vocational qualifications.
Councillor Neelo Farr Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Wellbeing said: “We are proud to reinforce our commitment to supporting our existing servicemen and women and their families, reservists and veterans who have all made a significant contribution to our communities.
“Over the last ten years we have proactively developed relationships with the Armed Forces community and other local organisations, providing support with education, health and wellbeing, housing, financial assistance, careers and discounted services, and we will continue to help make it easier to access help and support in the local community.”
