Cowbridge Cars and Coffee attracts record numbers

RECENTLY, Cowbridge Cars and Coffee held its 10th September event – and it was the “busiest ever”.

The free event always takes place on a Sunday, and the organisers aim to wrap things up by 12 noon, so as not to disrupt local businesses. As those organisers, Simon Leadbitter of Simon’s Bikes and Julian Hitchcock of the Bear Hotel, run businesses in the town, that is no surprise. Also involved in publicising the event is Rob Malvisi.

Simon told the Glamorgan Star that it has become popular with both proud vehicle owners and car enthusiasts too. He said: “We gave out 500 free coffees to car owners who came along. We don’t charge any fees but there is a collection during the morning – this year it was for Velindre.”

He said: “As it starts so early, car owners and enthusiasts have to make a very early start. It is surprising how far they are prepared to travel. This year, we had people from Caerleon and Swansea – and one family from Shropshire.

“It has been 11 years since we started the event. We did miss one year because of Covid but this one was the busiest yet.”
