THE LADIES of Dina Powys WI have become ‘Calendar Girls’ to raise money for charity – and they had an early boost when the local men’s Probus Club bought 60 copies!
The calendar was recently launched at a coffee and cake morning hosted by the ladies in the Parish Hall. The money raised will go to the Breast Centre Appeal – which is based at Llandough Hospital.
At the launch event on Saturday, 19th October, which was attended by Vale MS Jane Hutt, there was a raffle and tombola, as well as the calendar itself, which is priced at £10. It will be on sale at the Dinas Powys Community Library and can be bought from any member of Dinas Powys WI.
A spokeswoman said: “The WI wish to formally acknowledge the support from local businesses and many anonymous donors, including the council, who didn’t charge for the hall, photographer Sian Lewis, who gave her services free, and the many individuals who assisted throughout the operation.
“Special thanks of course must go to the models who braved the elements to pose for the calendar.”
