Dramatic multi agency rescue of man in water at Barry Island

++POLICE UPDATE: Shortly after 9pm yesterday (October 8), South Wales Police began searching for a man with reported concerns for his safety. The man was located in the water near Friars Point, Barry and was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries++
A dramatic rescue has taken place of a man found by local police officers in water at the dock area of Barry Island.
The rescue involving local police, RNLI, Coastguard, ambulance and a helicopter from National Police Air Service (NPAS) took place during the early hours of this morning, Saturday 9th October.
The pilot of the police helicopter has been praised by his colleagues in a social media post for dropping buoyancy aids to help keep the man afloat long enough for Barry Dock RNLI volunteer crew to rescue him and take him to the safety of waiting ambulance paramedics.
