THE Llantwit Major Local History Society has recently come upon this photograph of an infant’s class in their archive taken in the old school in 1919.
The photograph was donated by Mrs C Thomas, and luckily most names of the teacher and the children have been written on the back.

They are:
Teacher Miss M Hugh, Top row (left to right): Jack Thomas, Cyril Neal, Jenny Deere, Peggy Hopkin, Josie Lawrence, ? O’Connell, Godfrey Jones and Ted John.
Middle row: Margaret Thomas, Clara Wilkinson, Mary Harris, Dilys Watts, Dorothy Fitzgerald, G Caswell, Gwen Newman and Phyllis Jones.
Bottom row: B Davies, Tom Baldwin, Billie Thomas, Billie Deere, (two boys from Boverton?) and Geoff Amos. (Note: There are eight boys in the front row and only seven children indicated.)
Do you recognise your parent, grandparent, or even great-grandparent? Or can you correct the front row names?
Llantwit Major Local History Society would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and look forward to seeing you in 2025.
The last talk was by Prof Andy Seaman of Cardiff University on the Fonmon Castle Landscape Archaeology Project in the Llantonian Hall, but will be repeated on Thursday, 23rd January at 11am in CF61 in Llantwit Major.
