AN Emergency Services Day was held on Barry Island promenade recently involving personnel and officers from the HM Coastguard, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, RNLI and South Wales Police.
Visitors were able to engage with the teams and view emergency vehicles and resources on display including a fire appliance, police units and horses, and a coastguard response car.
The event was held on Wednesday 28th May and attended by many visitors on a bright and warm day with a backdrop over Whitmore Bay.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “Alongside our colleagues from the fire and rescue service, RNLI and HM Coastguard, were our local neighbourhood policing team, police horses and some of our police youth volunteers (PYVs).
“It was a great chance to speak to a good number of the visitors about topics from antisocial behaviour to water safety, and from fire safety to knife crime to our #OpElstree – an operation focused on keeping the coastal areas of the Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff as safe as possible.
“Our Police Youth Volunteers also helped out on the day by carrying out fingerprinting and helping some of our younger visitors to try on some police uniform.
“We’re really grateful to everyone who found the time to come along, and for [their] generous positive feedback about the event and the work carried out by all the emergency services on a daily basis.”
