Family tribute to ‘Beloved grandfather’ after fatal motorcycle collision
Llanharry motorcyclist later died in hospital
South Wales Police (SWP) is continuing their investigation into a fatal road traffic collision that took place at 1.50pm on Tuesday 1st July on the A4106 Bridgend Road in Tythegston, Bridgend.
The incident involved the rider of a silver Triumph Speed Triple RS motorcycle and the driver of a red Land Rover Defender. Officers from the serious collision investigation unit are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dash-camera footage or CCTV to come forward.
They are particularly interested in speaking with the elderly occupants of a yellow Honda Civic who stopped at the scene but left before police arrived, as they may have valuable information regarding the collision.
Additionally, the driver of a small grey car that was turning right into Dan-y-Graig Nursing Home is also encouraged to make contact, as they might have seen the Triumph motorcycle in the moments leading up to the incident.
Kenneth Bright, the rider of the Triumph motorcycle, was taken to hospital by ambulance but tragically passed away on 4th August.
Mr Bright’s family have paid the following tribute: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Kenneth Charles Bright of Llanharry, who tragically passed away on August 4th. As a beloved father, grandfather, brother and son, his loss has left us in shock and he will be dearly missed by his loving family, and many friends.
“The suddenness of his passing has been difficult for us to comprehend but we take comfort in knowing he is now at peace.
“We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the ambulance service and incredible staff at the Heath Hospital, whose tireless efforts and compassion will never be forgotten. Their dedication gave us comfort during the most difficult of times, and we will always remain grateful.”
Kens funeral will take place at Llanharry Cemetery on 29/08/25 at 11am.
