A local man has been jailed for the possession of cocaine with intent to supply, and for driving a vehicle whilst disqualified.
On Thursday, 13th June, Cardiff Crown Court heard how Laurence Hill (34) of Barry had thrown a packet over a wall onto wasteland covered in thick brambles and thorns as police were executing a search warrant at a property earlier this year. Having difficulty locating the item, South Wales Police (SWP) officers returned the following day (20th January) and located a plastic container of cocaine.
Pleading guilty, Hill was sentenced on 13th June to 32 months in prison for the drugs offence and a separate charge of driving whilst disqualified.
A spokesperson at SWP said: “Our officers work tirelessly to keep the area safe for residents, and this case is just one example of how we are tackling drug dealing in the community.
“We can, and regularly do, act upon the information provided to us by the public, so please keep it coming.
“Anyone with suspicions or information about illegal drug supply is urged to contact us”.
