Local woman represents GB in European Championships
Delyth Jones has a boost in sponsorship
A WOMAN from Llantwit Major represented Great Britain in the European Bench Press Championships in Turkey last week.
Delyth Jones (41) has been a formidable force in the world of powerlifting over the past two years. In 2022, her first year competing, she represented Wales at the IPF Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in New Zealand, where she won two bronze medals and a gold, setting a Commonwealth bench press record in the process. Her impressive journey continued in 2023 when she represented Great Britain at the European Bench Press Championships in France.

Most recently in March, Delyth clinched her second British bench press title. This earned her a place to represent Great Britain once again, this time at the European Bench Press Championships in Istanbul.
She had a boost recently when she received sponsorship from Zulu Joint Integrity & Training Ltd, a specialist engineering compliance and training company based in Bridgend.
Powerlifting is a self-funded sport, and competitive athletes often rely on personal funds and community support to compete at the highest international representative levels. Delyth said: “Firstly, I must say a huge thank you to Zulu for all the support that I’ve received over the last two years. Sponsorship takes a lot of the stress away from trying to self-fund and allows me to focus on my training.”

The director of Zulu, Chris Mellows added: “Delyth’s dedication and perseverance are truly inspiring. At 41 years of age, Delyth has only been actively competing for two years and to see her progress at such an impressive rate is truly inspiring”.
