Llanwit Major lollipop lady retires after 22 years
A LOLLIPOP lady in Llantwit Major has completed her last safe crossing of Station Road as she retires.
Sheila has been keeping the local community safe outside St Illtyd Primary School for the last 22 years.
Mr Richard Hardy, headteacher at St Illtyd’s said: “She is a popular and reassuring figure who greets every child and family with a smile in the morning and at the end of the school day. Regardless of the weather, you can count on Sheila to be there come rain, snow or shine and not once has anyone heard her complain.
“We celebrated Sheila’s well-earned retirement with an ice cream van and plenty of posters and flowers around the crossing.”
