Man arrested following stabbing near Wales Millennium Centre

South Wales Police (SWP) are appealing for information following the stabbing of man at Bute Place near the Wales Millennium Centre during the early hours of Monday 6th June.
The 26-year-old was taken to Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales with injuries that are not believed be life-threatening.
SWP have subsequently arrested a 22-year-old male on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Grievous bodily harm (GBH) or wounding is the second most serious form of assault, below attempted murder. When the offence is committed with the intention to cause GBH, it is an offence under section 18. The maximum sentence is life imprisonment.
Police Detective Inspector Claire Lamerton, from SWP, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed a road traffic collision involving a BMW and VW Golf near the Welsh Government building at around midnight, and then an altercation involving a group of males close to the Wales Millennium Centre.
“We believe both incidents are linked and are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the exact circumstances.
“While members of the public bravely came to the aid of the victim, the suspects fled in the direction of the Red Dragon Centre.”
