‘Mindees March’ brings lifesaving device to the Vale
REGISTERED Childminders from the Vale, together with their minded children, took part in a ‘Mindees March’ at Victoria Park in Barry on Wednesday, 23rd July.
They were walking to raise awareness and funds for The Oliver Steeper Foundation, which donates free anti-choking ‘LifeVac’ devices to registered childcare settings across the UK.

The march raised more than £600 which will be gratefully received by the charity and the legacy of baby Oliver, bringing comfort to families and saving others.
Sarah Sharpe, who organised the event, was donated a device for her Poppins Daycare at the beginning of the year. With only two devices back then across the whole of Wales, she wanted to raise awareness of this lifesaving device and help the charity who fund them. She held a raffle with local businesses donating prizes and this raised more than £1,500.
Today, there are 40 such devices in childcare settings across the Vale, and 72 across Wales.
LifeVac Europe devices can also be purchased from the charity and used on babies through to adults. You can even use the device on yourself in a choking emergency.
