Nessa’s bingo night nets £1,500 for domestic abuse charity
SUPPORTERS of Vale Domestic Abuse Services raised £1,500 with a special festive bingo night – hosted by Barry’s own ‘Knock Off Nessa’.
Over 80 people came to the fundraiser recently at the Market Street Club in Barry, to hear the Gavin & Stacey lookalike Knock Off Nessa call the balls and bring the laughs!
Prizes included tickets to see Hamilton at Wales Millenium Centre and vouchers from Academy Espresso, Front Room pizzeria and Bella’s Blooms.
Vale Domestic Abuse Services’ chief exec Vicky Friis, said: “Everyone had such a fun night; Knock Off Nessa really is a Barry legend and she had everyone in stitches at the bingo.
“Most importantly, she helped us to raise an amazing £1,500. This money will enable us to provide Christmas presents and essentials for the women and the children we support in our refuge and accommodation over the festive period.
“Last year, we supported over 1,000 women from across the Vale and over 200 children and young people who have been impacted by domestic abuse – and this was a 30% increase on the previous year. Every single pound raised or item donated makes an impact and will help us continue our work to support survivors in The Vale.
“A huge thank you to everyone who came and gave so generously, and to the many local businesses who provided prizes and donations.”
