Pobol y Cwm actor from Barry takes on a new career challenge

A BARRY man has made a significant career change after being a series regular in the Welsh soap, Pobol y Cwm.

Dan Broderick, 33, who starred as a barman on Pobol, has traded the limelight of television for a career as a PR consultant dedicated to raising awareness for important causes in the charity and not-for-profit sector.

Dan said: “Working on Pobol y Cwm was an amazing experience but I wanted to channel my creativity into something that could help others. Transitioning to charity work has been incredibly rewarding—I get to tell stories that inspire action and make a difference.”

After working on Pobol from 2014 to 2019, Dan says he discovered a passion for using his storytelling abilities to bring about positive change. His new role as a public relations consultant sees him working with charities across Wales and has seen him working with Learning Disability Wales, Home-Start Cymru and MS Society Cymru to name a few, helping them design impactful PR campaigns that raise awareness and drive support.

Rooted in the values of community and connection instilled during his upbringing in Barry, Dan credits his hometown for inspiring him to give back. “Barry will always be home, and I’m proud to represent it in my work. The town taught me the importance of looking out for one another, and I carry that with me in everything I do,” he added.
