PENCOED RFC welcomed Morriston and, before kick‑off, there was a heartfelt one‑minute silence in memory of Neil Bidder KFC, former Pencoed RFC president, who recently passed away. A respected figure and lifelong servant of the club, the tribute was impeccably observed.

Pencoed produced some of their best rugby of the season, delivering a confident and controlled first half that laid the platform for a 40–29 victory in front of a strong and supportive crowd. In the second half, Pencoed lost their way a bit with some high tackles and complaining at the breakdown where decisions went against them.
In a young team, it’s always good to have a few old heads, and none more so than Elliot Frewen, making his home debut for Pencoed. His general play and work rate was outstanding. Although Morriston rallied late after Pencoed emptied the bench, the result never truly felt in doubt.

Try scorers for Pencoed: Tom Geere (3); Iwan Powell (2); Harley Moore (one). Conversions: outside half Rhys Clarke (5).
The Pencoed Man of the Match was Tommy Geere (The Vegan Viking) with a hat‑trick of tries and a huge work rate, who was a constant threat with ball in hand.
There was a proud moment for the club as current youth player Tom Thatcher‑Wynne made his senior debut. A glimpse of the future for this young Pencoed side.
It was a great win at home, built on ambition, energy, and some genuinely exciting rugby. Even with Morriston’s second‑half surge, the boys showed composure and maturity.
