Reform UK takes Illtyd ward by-election
VOTERS in Barry have voted in Reform UK at the polling stations yesterday as the party takes the Vale of Glamorgan Council‘s Illtyd ward by-election that was triggered following the death of Howard Hamilton.
Tributes poured in for Labour Vale of Glamorgan Council councillor for Illtyd Howard Hamilton after his passing was announced in July.
Previously held by Labour, Reform UK’s Brandon Dodd took the seat with Plaid Cymru’s candidate Taif Ball coming in second place.
The full results of the Illtyd ward by-election held on Thursday, 11th September:
- Brandon William Dodd, Reform UK: 729 votes
- Taif Ball, Plaid Cymru / The Party of Wales: 657 votes
- Vincent Bailey, Conservative Party Candidate: 445 votes
- Aled Blake, Welsh Labour / Llafur Cymru: 414 votes
- Aoife Blight, Green Party / Plaid Werdd: 85 votes
Speaking following the election Cllr Bradon Dodd said: “Thank you to everyone who went out and voted. Together, we’ve made history in the Vale of Glamorgan. I’m excited to work hard for Illtyd Ward and to deliver the much-needed changes our community deserves.”
