Public consultation launched on the Vale’s replacement LDP
A PUBLIC consultation on the Vale of Glamorgan’s Replacement Local Development Plan (RLDP) 2021–2036 is now underway, the council has announced.
The consultation invites residents, businesses, community groups and other key stakeholders to have their say on how development in the Vale will be shaped over the next 15 years.
The Deposit Plan includes:
- The overall development strategy for the Vale
- Planning policies to guide future planning decisions
- Areas of land that should be protected
- Specific site allocations for development, including new homes and employment land
Once adopted, the RLDP will replace the current Local Development Plan (2011–2026) and provide the framework for planning decisions up to 2036.
A series of drop-in public consultation events are being held to give residents and other consultees an opportunity to view the plans and ask questions of officers involved in developing the RLDP.
The Deposit LDP and all relevant background documents are available to view on the Council’s consultation portal* below and at the following locations during normal opening hours:
- Civic Offices, Holton Road, Barry, CF63 4RU
- All Council-run libraries
The consultation opened on 28th January and will run until 11th March 2026.
Cllr Ruba Sivagnanam, Cabinet Member for Community Engagement, Equalities and Regulatory Services, said: “The RLDP sets out a long-term vision for the Vale of Glamorgan, focused on supporting sustainable growth, protecting our natural and built environments, and creating strong, well-connected communities for the future. It provides a clear framework for where development should take place and how future planning decisions will be made to make the Vale a great place to live, work and visit.
“We want to hear from as many people as possible about the contents of the plan. Residents can view the consultation documents online and share their feedback, or come along to one of our drop-in events to look at the plans and speak directly with planning officers. Your feedback will be carefully considered and will help shape the next stage of the plan.”
