Aldi plans new store in Barry
Aldi has announced plans for a new food store in Barry, saying that it will be investing over £7 million in the project.
The company says this will bring up to 40 quality full and part-time local jobs at a rate that is above the National Living Wage.
The site will have 113 car parking spaces including seven accessible spaces, eight parent and child spaces, and one taxi space. It will also include 10 vehicle charging points, including four rapid EVC bays, and infrastructure for more in the future.
The new store will be on land at the former gas holder site off Cardiff Road (A4055). A company spokesperson described the site as “vacant brownfield, contributing nothing to the local economy”.
Aldi has stores in Culverhouse Cross and Ferry Road, but none in Barry.
A pre-application consultation will run from Thursday, 6th November until midnight, Thursday, 4th December. A public consultation event will also be taking place at Cadoxton Bowling Club, Victoria Park, Victoria Park Road, Barry, CF63 2JS on Thursday, 27th November, 3pm to 7pm.
