Cowbridge Rotary supporter is honoured

AS a thank you for all her support for nearly 40 years since her late husband Robin became a member of Cowbridge Rotary Club, Margaret Vernon, from Cowbridge was recently presented with a ‘Paul Harris Fellowship’.

The presentation was carried out by club president Malcolm Hallewell at a social meeting held in Coed-y-Mwstwr Golf Club.

Margaret has for many years been taking part in the fellowship with Cowbridge’s twin club in Meissen, Germany, who were due to visit over a recent weekend.

Malcolm Hallewell said: “Unfortunately, our German friends had an issue with their plane becoming damaged in Berlin and had to cancel at the last minute.

“The members of Meissen Rotary have sent their congratulations to Margaret for this prestigious and well-deserved award.

“It was a privilege and honour to make this award to someone who has worked so hard – not being a member but a true supporter – and it was such a pity that the Rotarians from Germany, many of whom had become close friends to Margaret, could not make it”.
