WELSH jockeys rode winners in four of the six races at Newton Abbot recently.
Ogmore-by-Sea’s Jack Tudor rode the winner of the first and last races on two of David Pipe’s horses with Sirekoff taking the maiden hurdle and Via Dante the handicap hurdle. The former, who went off the 3-1 favourite, had three-quarters of a length from Tribal Glory and the latter, a 12-1 chance, won by six lengths from the Debbie Hamer-trained Rubys Reward. Hamer hails from Bridgend but now trains in west Wales.
Llancarfan’s Isabel Williams was successful on her father Evan Williams’ Melton Mossy, who got home by a neck from Colonel Lesley in the 16-runner handicap hurdle and went off at odds of 10-1.
Pembrokeshire’s Sean Bowen was successful on Sergeant making it a good day for Welsh riders.
