CONNOR Brace has come a long way since he rode his first pony race winner, aged 16, back in 2018.
The former champion novice point-to-point rider, who hails from Porthcawl, and who is attached to Gloucestershire trainer Fergal O’Brien’s yard, came in for plenty of praise after winning the £80,000 European Breeders’ Novice Handicap Hurdle at Sandown recently on O’Brien’s Crambo, who got home by half-a-length from Inneston in an exciting finish.
Jack wins famed steeplechase
THE Vale’s Jack Tudor, stable jockey to Ogmore-by-Sea’s Christian Williams, landed the famed £80,000 Vertem Eider Handicap Steeplechase over four miles, one furlong and 56 yards at Newcastle recently (25th February).
Riding the 7-4 favourite Kitty’s Light, at seven the youngest horse in the stamina-sapping race, he rode a peach of a race to win by two-and-a-half lengths from The Galloping Bear.
At Warwick, Alan Johns rode another winner for Aberthin’s Tim Vaughan when scoring on his Bells Of Stamford.
