Join the Ramblers’ women’s day walk!

MEMBERS of Penarth and District Ramblers are inviting walkers to join them for a walk celebrating International Women’s Day next Wednesday (8th March).
Penarth and District Ramblers is supporting the day with a local walk to encourage women who may be anxious about walking alone or in a mixed group. It will be an all-female group.

Spokeswoman Joy Strangward said: “The six-mile route will take in the peace and tranquillity of some of our local native woodlands as well as fields and tracks, but please note this is not a flat walk. There are several climbs and rough paths, so you are advised to wear boots or stout footwear, no trainers please. If there has been rainfall many of the paths get very muddy, just so you are aware.”

Angela Charlton director of Ramblers Cymru said: “Women are the driving force for many of our volunteer groups, undertaking lots of roles from path maintenance to walk leading, but we believe that there are many women out there who would like to go out and explore but don’t know where or don’t feel comfortable to do so on their own.”
The walk will leave Dinas Powys Village Square by the War Memorial (what3words – images.tour.moral) at 10am and there will be one refreshment stop, so bring a drink and something to nibble on. You may wish to wear something purple in support of International Women’s Day!
Your walk leader will be Joy and can be contacted on 07794 274 930. You can follow the group here or on Facebook.
