POLICE searching for an elderly pensioner from Cowbridge say they have located the body of a woman.
Anne Jones (85), known locally as Nancy or Nance has been missing since Friday (21 July) with a large search taking place to find her involving teams from mountain rescue, police and helicopters.
There has also been many reports on social media from members of the public showing concerns for Mrs Jones or simply spreading the word about the vulnerable pensioners disappearance.
Today, 26 July, a spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “Police officers searching for Ann Jones who was reported missing on Saturday July 22 have located the body of a woman.
“While formal identification has yet to take place, Ann Jones’ family has been informed of this development.”
Her last confirmed sighting was on CCTV early Saturday morning walking past Cowbridge Comprehensive School towards Ystradowen, and there was a further probable sighting a very short time later close to the villages of Prisk and Maendy.
Earlier in the week, South Wales Police issued two images of Anne hoping they would prompt awareness of Anne’s disappearance.
