Tennis club’s marathon in memory of a family man
A TENNIS CLUB is holding a 24-hour marathon in memory of a local man who died from a rare cancer.
From 12 noon on Saturday 16th September until 12 noon on Sunday 17th September, Llantwit Major Tennis Club members and supporters in the community will be playing non-stop for 24 hours.

In their thoughts will be the family of a club member, Neil Davies, who died from a rare adrenal carcinoma, aged just 50. A club spokesperson said: “Neil was an outstanding athlete, an incredible human being, father to two beautiful daughters and husband to Helen.
“All money raised will be donated to Marie Curie and Hope Rescue, two amazing charities that supported and cared for Neil and his family during his illness.
“The event is open to all abilities and ages so please come down and play or support. The club is behind Llantwit Major Rugby Club. The tennis club offers racquets for non-players, toilets, food and drinks vendors and most importantly a welcoming atmosphere. Gather your friends, family or even bring a team to take on the challenge.”
For details on how to take part, or how to donate, visit the Llantwit Major Tennis Club website or find the club on Facebook.
Club members will be remembering Neil Davies when they take part in the 24-hour challenge.
