All Saints pupils have a ‘devilishly’ good time with Ice Hockey champs!
Pupils at All Saints C.W. Primary School in Barry were very proud to welcome members of the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team to school last week.
The Devils were founded in 1986, and since their formation they have played out of three different locations – the Wales National Ice Rink (1986 – 2006), the Big Blue Tent (2006 – 2016), and the Ice Arena Wales (March 2016 – present).
We were very lucky to have Blake Thompson, Cole Sanford and Joey Martin in school to talk to the children. They talked to the children about how they had become interested in ice hockey and how much they are enjoying their time with the Cardiff Devils.
They told the children about the different equipment a player has to wear, the different types of sticks players use, and they also handed out a puck for the pupils to see how it felt.
They also talked to the children about how it is important to stay healthy, eat the right foods and also exercise, so that you are able to perform at your best at school and when playing sport.
Blake, Cole and Joey were able to answer the many questions the children had and everyone enjoyed joining in with the Devils chants at the end of the session.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the Cardiff Devils, but especially Blake, Cole, and Joey for such a wonderful experience. We wish them lots of luck for the rest of the season and the All Saints family are looking forward to attending a game very soon.
