Local boy makes it to Britain’s Got Talent semi finals!

A YOUNG dancer from Barry and his family are celebrating after he received the Golden Buzzer in a recent episode of Britain’s Got Talent!

Local boy Ben Osborne is a proud member of the dance group the Phoenix Boys. The group, which includes members from all over the UK, was ecstatic after dance legend Bruno Tonioli hit the golden buzzer so hard that he smashed it! The group enjoyed a standing ovation from the whole auditorium at the London Palladium, and a teary Bruno said how the group reminded him of being a young male dancer.

Ben Osborne is 17, he currently attends Cardiff & Vale College and trains at the NBA Dance Academy. He had the following to say about his experience: “It was surreal, a dream come true, and I’m so grateful for all the support and positivity we’ve received since being aired.”

His parents Emma and Tom Osborne said: “We are extremely proud of Ben heading up the group of 37 amazing, talented and passionate boys, another four from Wales and 32 others who live all over the UK.

“Their recent appearance on BGT and pursuit in the live semi-finals isn’t just about performance; it’s about setting an example, igniting a spark of confidence in other boys to pursue their dreams, no matter the path.”

The performers all go head-to-head to win a life-changing £250,000, as well as a spot on the bill at the Royal Variety Performance.

Phoenix Boys is a nationwide dance associate programme that currently runs in London, Manchester and Birmingham and provides supplementary training to budding male dancers with no audition to be involved. The ethos of the company is to provide a nurturing environment for dancing boys to thrive, whether it is for a hobby or a career on stage/screen.

Ben and his group are due to appear in this evening’s (30th May) semi-final on ITV1/ITVX at 7.30pm.

  • Northants Sings Out – choir
  • Kevin Finn – comedian
  • Phoenix Boys – dancers
  • Harrison Pettman – singer
  • Andrew Curphey – entertainer
  • Nabe – hair impressionist
  • Itzel Salvatierra – aerial act
  • Abigail & Afronitaaa – dancers
