BARRY RFC’s players face another blank weekend as their home WRU Admiral League Division One East Central fixture against Cambrian Welfare on Saturday has been postponed because of the state of the Reservoir Field pitch.
The club has been unable to find an alternative venue, as the Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg all-weather pitch is unavailable during school holidays.
The WRU, the Vale Council, and Welsh Water are currently investigating the cause of the waterlogging of the club’s main pitch. Barry’s next scheduled home match, against Rhydyfelin on 6th January, must also be doubtful.
The Bombers were last in league action on 25th November, a 19-10 loss at Ynysybwl. Their last two home games have been called off, Rhiwbina on 2nd December because of frost, and Abercwmboi on 9th December because of a waterlogged pitch.
Barry have had six matches postponed, for varying reasons, so the league season, originally due to finish on 23rd March, is now likely to run well into April.
