Brynhill GC members’ marathon for Macmillan

FOUR members of Brynhill Golf Club recently tackled the ‘Longest Day’ golf challenge, playing four rounds of golf (72 holes) in just one day to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care.

The team members were Brad Dodd, Andrew Davies, Ian Clemo and Steve Gould. Brad told the Glamorgan Star: “We teed off at first light, 4.45am. A member who lives next to the golf club, Andy Hilton, had sausage sandwiches and tea ready for us after round one.

“A quick turnaround and we were off again and completed another quick round, putting us well ahead of schedule. We had plenty of support from club members who were brilliant. Colin Lewis, Joanne and John Kirkpatrick were out on buggies, clearing the way so there were no holdups and supplying us with snacks and drinks. We also had pasta between the second round and third rounds, giving us plenty of energy.

“The last nine holes on the third round were tough but the final round was amazing, with a decent crowd following us. Everyone commented on the standard of golf. Believe it or not, the last round was our best combined score. We finished at 6.30pm and had a few beers in the clubhouse with family and friends to celebrate.

“It was a great day. So far, we have raised over £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care!”
