Community garden takes a top award
THE CF61 Gardening Project in Llantwit Major is celebrating after receiving an ‘Outstanding’ award for ‘Community Engagement’ from the Royal Horticultural Society and Britain in Bloom.
The accolade follows the project’s earlier success in the Wales in Bloom competition, where it also achieved an outstanding award (Level 5) in the ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ category — the highest level attainable.

Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS), which supports the project, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with this recognition. It’s a testament to the tireless work, creativity, and commitment of our incredible volunteers who have transformed CF61 into a vibrant, welcoming green space for the community.”
The GVS spokesperson added: “The CF61 Gardening Project has become a beacon of local pride, fostering environmental stewardship, social connection, and well-being through its inclusive approach to community gardening. Congratulations to all our volunteers — this award truly belongs to you.”
