The challenge involved climbing Scotland’s Ben Nevis, 1345m; England’s Scafell Pike, 978m; and Wales’ Snowdon, at 1085m.

The challenge was organised by Barry firefighter Mark Potter together with Steve Brown and John McAllister.

The two teams of six climbers aimed to complete their mission within 24 hours in June.

The group is raising money for three charities including The Fire Fighters Charity and Tasc Ambulance Charity who work tirelessly to provide vital treatment, support and care for their respective services.

With the majority of those taking part from Barry Fire and Rescue Station the third chosen charity is Barry-based Mind in the Vale of Glamorgan.

All the team have colleagues, family and friends that have been impacted by mental health issues.

Mind in the Vale of Glamorgan provides a vital service, to people experiencing mental health issues, caring and supporting them with treatment and guidance enabling them to recover and achieve their goals and ambitions in life.

Leading the team was crew manager and Barry firefighter Mark Potter, 52.

Mr Potter, a firefighter of 14 years, has previously completed Land’s End to John O’Groats; Barry to Gibraltar; and north to South Wales in 24 hours, all on the bikes.

He said: “It was physically hard going, with a lot of weary legs and no sleep, but the team remained in high spirits throughout the event, which really helped everyone push through it.

“Everyone clicked together, and there was a fantastic team spirit, with everyone really supportive of each other.

“We are over the moon to have raised £3000 so far.”

The teams will attempt the Welsh Three Peaks on September 15 and 16 to raise more awareness and donations for the charities.
