Llantwit drama students celebrate on awards night

STAFF and pupils at Llantwit Major School are celebrating after their 2023 production of Les Misérables picked up six prizes at the recent Glamorgan Drama League awards.

The cast and crew picked up six ‘Glammies’ – as the awards are known – and also had 12 nominations. Competing against other amateur theatre companies in the district, the school took the top prize of the night for Best Overall Musical, which means that across every category they received the most points.

Director Hayley Toms said: “We are so privileged to have such a talented and hard-working group of youngsters at Llantwit Major School, and it is fantastic to have the efforts of the students and staffed recognised by the Glamorgan Drama League”.

Winning Glammies were:

  • Best Supporting Actor – Sammi Morgan as Monsieur Thénardier (there were 14 people in this category).
  • Best Actress – Connie Roots as Éponine.
  • Best Supporting Actress under 14 – Cara Moulder as Gavroche.
