Music festival returns to Llantwit Major this weekend
Friday 22nd – Sunday 24th March
LLANTWIT MAJOR will be making a musical mark this weekend when the Llantwit Major Chamber Music Festival returns to St Illtud’s Church (22nd – 24th March) with an outstanding set of five concerts, happening over three days.
The festival was founded in 2019 by local Welsh cellist Ben Tarlton and continues to offer top class music making by young professional musicians.
Ben told the Glamorgan Star: “We have a captivating selection of repertoire on offer this year, including a new work written especially for the festival by Welsh composer Edward-Rhys Harry. It will open the festival on Friday (22nd March) at 7.30pm.
“Our outreach work in local schools is continuing to thrive with visits to Ysgol Dewi Sant, St Illtyd, and Llanfair primary schools taking place the week of the festival. The pupils will have an exciting opportunity to experience and engage in live music.
“As well as the main festival concerts, we have partnered up with the Worshipful Company of Musicians in London to include a concert given by artists on their roster. All details of the concerts and performers are on our website at www.lmcmf.com
“Tickets for the five concerts are easy to get hold of, through our website (follow the QR code on the poster below), at Bardic Vintage Books on Church Street or by calling the number provided on the poster. Alternatively, some tickets may be available on the door. We are hugely looking forward to welcoming you and sharing our music making.”

Become a Friend of the Festival
In 2021, we established a ‘Friends of the Festival’ association. We are thrilled with how the festival has unfolded over the past few years and are very much looking forward to seeing it blossom into a wonderfully fruitful part of the cultural scene in the Vale of Glamorgan.
As a Friend, you will be invited to a free drinks reception and concert every December at St Illtud’s Church and in addition, you will also benefit from priority booking for the main concerts at our Festival each Spring. We also send our newly joined Friends YouTube links to the three recorded concerts that were filmed at St Illtud’s Church for our 2021 Online Festival, as well as the final concert from our 2022 Festival, all filmed by Thomas James from Luna Tides Productions.
To join, simply make an annual standing order donation here of £25 for individual membership or £40 for a couples’ membership. If you are interested in joining, please email us at .
‘As a non-profit Charity, we rely on donations to keep this Festival thriving. Your generous support will go a long way in helping us. Thank you‘
