Local artist’s exhibition in Cowbridge

A SOLO art show will take place at Cowbridge Old Hall in September, featuring work by David Robinson.

The exhibition will include his seaside paintings, with swimmers and seagulls as well as characters tucking into chips and ice cream. David is a member of Cowbridge Art Society and took part in this year’s National Eisteddfod art exhibition, Y Lle Celf.

He said: “I wanted to put on an exhibition that everyone can enjoy, whether or not they’re into art”. There are traditional landscapes and more whimsical, imaginative pieces. David added: We’ve had a difficult few years – with two family bereavements last year – but through art I can look around and give value to all that we have locally – beautiful landscapes, great community and people full of humour and wit”.

He has drawn inspiration from the much-loved Beryl Cook, but also John Elwyn, Norman Cornish and Ruskin Spear, and aims to connect to local life and be upbeat: “I really do feel privileged to be able to live and work here in south Wales, and I’d like to share some of that joy in my work”.

David’s exhibition ‘Living the dream’ will be open at Cowbridge Old Hall (CF71 7AF) weekdays 10am to 4pm, from 3rd-26th September, admission free. For further information, email
