FOLLOWING a recent conviction for shoplifting offences, a man from Barry was jailed and issued with a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 3rd August.
Matthew Moore admitted stealing £22.40 of household goods from the One Stop Shop in Broad Street and was jailed for 16 weeks.
The court was informed that Moore has been operating as part of a group who target stores together.
As part of the CBO, Moore must not enter Hoton Road, Broad Street, Home Bargains, Sainsbury’s and any Co-op in Barry
He is also banned from entering any shops in Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan in company of five named individuals.
The aim of a CBO is to prevent crime and protect the community, local workers, and members of the public from continued distress, disruption, and potential harm.
A police spokesperson said: “South Wales Police works closely with retailers and businesses to protect them from crime and anti-social committed by individuals like Matthew Moore.
“Shoplifting can have a devastating impact on shopworkers and retailers.
“This case demonstrates our commitment to tackling retail theft and supporting the industry.”
