Man in serious condition after Porthcawl ‘affray’
South Wales Police is appealing for witnesses to an assault outside The Beachcomber, also known as the Cabin Bar, in Porthcawl during the early hours of Sunday, 12th September.
Police were called to the Eastern Promenade at around 3.20am but it is believed the assault might have taken place earlier.
A 33-year-old local man was taken to University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, with a head injury and his condition is described as serious.
A 39-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and he remains in police custody.
Detectives are studying CCTV and further arrests are anticipated.
Detective Inspector Jason McGill said: “Officers are continuing with extensive enquiries into the circumstances of the incident and we are appealing for information.
“In particular, we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed a fight between two groups of men on Eastern Promenade between 2am and 3.30am.
“For anyone visiting Porthcawl, who is not familiar with the area, Eastern Promenade is the road by the edge of Coney Beach and the fair.”
