Mumbles Youth 27, Pencoed Youth, 29.
Mumbles Youth started the match strongly, going into a 12-0 lead.
However, Pencoed hit back to level matters 12-12 at the interval. Following the break, Pencoed raced away on the scoreboard to lead 15-29.
Mumbles fought back with two tries and a conversion but missed the final conversion from point blank range – a kick that would have levelled matters.
Highlights for Pencoed were a length-of-the-field try from Harry Pascoe, and a try hat-trick from Llyw Llewellyn. Kean Elward also crossed the whitewash with skipper James Roberts adding two conversions. Pencoed coaches Lyndon Griffiths and Gareth Hurley concurred this was a good all round team performance.
Meanwhile, Pencoed Phoenix enjoyed a successful break in Spain, winning the tournament plate final in Magaluf against Oban Ladies by 4 tries to 3.
Phoenix tries came from Amy Stevens, Hannah Whitcombe, Nat O’Shea, and Nia Galea.
