Remembrance events on Saturday and Sunday in Bridgend
BRIDGEND Town Council co-ordinated two events in the town centre on Remembrance weekend.
A Children and Family Parade and Service took place on Saturday, 8th November. This event aims to help children understand the importance of Remembrance, creating a truly meaningful morning for everyone.
Rev Rachel Wheeler took the Service, helped by her puppets, Grandad and Poppy, to explain why it is so important to remember the sacrifices made by those who have served and continue to serve to protect us all.

This parade was led by the 1092 Bridgend Sqn RAF Air Cadets Corps of Drums, with Bridgend Youth Mayor, Phoebe Evans and representatives from local schools and youth groups joining the march.
Ellis Howell, a former member of RAF St Athan Voluntary Band, played the Last Post and 1092 (Bridgend) Squadron RAF Cadets supported with the wreath laying.
Bridgend Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service

The Bridgend Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service was led by the South Wales Police Band and took place on Sunday, 9th November.
This year, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, the names of those lost from Bridgend were read out during the service by former Welsh Guardsmen and town councillors Peter Robinson and Mike Smith.
Following the service, The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Mid Glamorgan, Pam Kelly took the salute at the War Memorial for the march past.
