Rescue services search may be linked to Barry missing man

All local rescue services were called out to Barry Island today (9th February) in an operation thought to be linked with a Barry man who has gone missing.

Barry Dock RNLI confirmed they had been called out at 11.00am and that Barry Coastguard were at Whitmore Bay to co-ordinate operations.

The Police helicopter was also deployed during the search, which was ongoing as the Glamorgan Star went to press.

South Wales Police later appealed for information on a man from Barry who had been reported missing.

The appeal said that Kiam Lee, aged 49, may have left his home between 3.00am and 7.00am in the early hours of Wednesday.

He is described as male, Chinese, Malaysian, 5ft7″, of thin build with short black hair. He was last seen dressed in green tracksuit bottoms, a brown short jacket, dark beanie hat and brown loafer type shoes.

A police spokesperson said: “Concern is growing for his welfare. Anyone with information should contact the police, quoting 45562, by telephoning 101, or email on .”
