A NEW local food and drink directory has been created to help connect residents and visitors with passionate producers across the Vale.
Taste of the Vale highlights the county’s rich food and farming heritage and provides a go-to-guide for discovering a wealth of local farm producers, vineyards, dairies, bakeries, fruit and vegetable horticulturalists and more.
The journey from farm to food, tells a story with every bite and the directory – which can be found on the Visit the Vale website – aims to encourage consumers to enjoy seasonal eating and connect with their local food movement and the countryside within which it is produced.
Cath Smith, Senior Food and Farming Officer explained: “Eating seasonal and local food is about much more than just great taste, it’s about sustainable farming, fresh nutritious food and supporting local producers who work tirelessly to produce high quality locally made food and drink.
“It’s good for the local economy, good for the environment and good for our local communities”.
From local organic fruit and vegetables bursting with flavour, artisan tea, pasture fed meats, heavenly ice cream, award winning milk & wine, or the buzz of a vibrant farmers market. The Vale offers it all and more to taste, enjoy, explore.
Consumers are encouraged to take a look and fill their shopping basket with the very best of Blasus Cymru from the heart of the county, and help our local producers to thrive.
Nia Hollins, Principal Tourism and Marketing Officer said: “The Food directory aims to take you on a mouth-watering discovery of the award winning and innovative food and drink producers that we are proud to have within the Vale.”
The directory is supported by a social media communications campaign “Discover a Taste of the Vale”, which will run across the coming months, in chime with the seasonal availability of produce.
