Sport – Penarth take the Supporters Cup

Vale of Glamorgan Football League round up

PENARTH TOWN came out victorious in the Supporters Cup Final at Jenner Park, defeating Island Marine 3-1, David Shallis the hero with a hat trick.

In league action, defending champions St Athan stayed top of the Premier Division with a 3-0 win over Vale United Reserves, Dewi Cain, Ian Phillips and James Creegan with the goals. Cardiff Airport are two points behind with a game in hand after they saw off derby rivals AFC Rhoose 3-1, Tyler Bolton and Ethan Galsworthy with the goals. Barry Athletic sit in third, six points off the top with two games in hand as we head for a thrilling title conclusion.

In the Championship, champions Vale Madrid remain unbeaten as they thumped their title rivals second place Cwm Talwg 5-0, David Evans scoring twice with Cory and Mat James both getting one and Caleb Plowright also on the scoresheet.

Peterston Super Ely left it late but came out 2-1 winners over Barry Athletic Reserves, Lewis Evans scoring twice, the winner four minutes from time.

Cogan Coronation Reserves came from behind twice to beat Island Marine Reserves 3-2, Cam Starling the two goal hero.

In League One, Dinas Powys Development moved a step closer to the title with a 1-0 away win over St Athan Development, James Hill scoring with the last kick of the game.

Cadoxton Imps Seconds saw off Ely Rangers Wenvoe 2-0 with Ashley Cottle and Chris Rees getting the goals.
