ISSUES at a Barry business park relating to planning breaches have been resolved.
A number of companies at the Atlantic Business Park were found to have breached planning rules.
Vale of Glamorgan Brewery, Vale Community Fitness (gym), and CB STONE (stone mason) were the businesses, and the Vale Council’s planning committee gave authorisation in December 2024 for the council to issue enforcement notices to these businesses.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) understands that these were not needed in the end.
The council said Vale Community Fitness is currently in the process of applying for planning permission and that CB STONE is now operating lawfully.
However, the Vale of Glamorgan Brewery is no longer operating at Atlantic Business Park.
A Vale Council spokesperson said: “The council has not taken enforcement action against any of these businesses, with such a move always a last resort.
“Instead, officers will look to resolve planning disputes informally through negotiation wherever possible. In these cases, following discussions, Vale Community Fitness are applying for planning permission, while CB stone are operating lawfully.”
‘We simply couldn’t survive‘
A spokesman for the Vale of Glamorgan Brewery said: “We regret to inform you that VOG brewery is no longer trading. 2024 was unlike anything we’ve experienced, with a market changing beyond recognition, a tough macro environment and ending with a mountain of unpaid invoices that we simply couldn’t survive.
“We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all our customers and suppliers and wish everyone the best at a difficult time.
“We are working through the process of closing the business and will be in touch as soon as we can.”
The Vale of Glamorgan Brewery was visited by former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during his general election campaign in May 2024.
