A PUBLIC consultation has been launched over plans to develop a new McDonald’s restaurant.
The proposals could eventually see the site created on land off Coity Road, within Dainton Business Park, Bridgend, if given the go-ahead by council bosses.
Plans say they would include a “modern freestanding single-storey McDonald’s restaurant” with an accompanying drive-thru lane, 32 parking spaces with two accessible bays, and other associated works if approved.
This would come alongside three electric vehicle charging points, two grill bays, two motorcycle spaces, and six bicycle spaces.
They add that the site would provide a “significant economic boost” to the local area, creating over 110 new jobs across a range of full and part-time positions and generating approximately £50-60k in business rates every year.
A part of the consultation said: “The restaurant is proposed to be conveniently located off Coity Road, a major arterial route through Bridgend.
“It is easily accessible by foot or bicycle. Additionally, buses provide convenient, regular access to the Business Park.
“If approved, McDonald’s would revitalise the current site, creating an attractive and sustainable drive-thru and restaurant.
“The delivery of this new restaurant would enhance local food choices, as well as creating new, permanent jobs for up to 110 people.”
Nikesh Solanki, acquisitions surveyor at McDonald’s, added: “Our plans for transforming an underused site in Bridgend into a vibrant new McDonald’s restaurant and drive-thru promise to bring new opportunities to the area.
“This redevelopment represents a fantastic opportunity to breathe new life into a convenient location, creating a well-connected destination that serves residents and visitors alike.”
The consultation for the proposed new McDonald’s is running until midnight on Sunday, 2nd November, 2025.
It will take place so that residents of Bridgend can have their say on the plans before the submission of a full planning application goes to Bridgend County Borough Council’s planning department.
