Council changes bin collection times due to extreme weather
Needed to help protect crews from extreme heat
WASTE and recycling collections in Bridgend County Borough will start earlier than usual on Wednesday and Thursday to help protect the crews from extreme heat while also reducing the chances of any uncompleted rounds.
Collections are expected to start earlier at around 4.30am and the council is advising all residents to put their waste and recycling out the night before their usual collection date.
The Met Office has issued a red heat warning for 24th and 25th June, with temperatures forecast to reach up to 37°c.

Councillor Gary Haines, Cabinet Member for Communities and the Environment, said: “This is a proactive decision which helps to reduce the chances of any uncompleted rounds while also prioritising the health and safety of waste and recycling crews.
“We’re asking residents to play their part by putting their waste and recycling out earlier and efforts will be made to keep noise disruption to a minimum during the earlier collection times.
“It would also be appreciated if affected residents can let their neighbours know about these temporary changes and help us spread the word around their local communities.”
