Dancers launch appeal to fund a world cup bid

A group of dancers who train in Llandough have qualified to represent Wales in the Dance World Cup in June.
As a result, the Planet Acro Dance Squad have launched a fundraising drive. The team, made up of 13 girls aged between eight and 16, come from all over Cardiff and Vale and are currently polishing all 10 of their routines, including four solos, ready to take on the rest of the world when they compete in San Sebastian, Spain.
A spokesperson said: “Dance receives no external funding, so raising the money for the girls to compete is completely up to them and their families. With Covid restrictions still in place, their usual ways of fundraising (bag-packing, quizzes, car-washing etc) are all out of the question.
“They are looking for companies and individuals to sponsor the team: £4,000 will cover entry fees, kit and costumes for the team, and travel and accommodation. Anybody sponsoring the team for £250 or more will have the option of having their names or company logos put on their kit – any amount is welcomed though.”
