POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information following the death of a woman after being struck by a cyclist in Cardiff.
The unnamed 57-year-old female was walking her dog with her husband sometime between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Tuesday 10th December, 2024, when the collision happed on Moorland Road, Splott, Cardiff
The woman was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where she died on Monday, 13th January.
South Wales Police (SWP) is urging the cyclist to come forward who is described as a male and, at the time of the incident, wearing a black face covering, white shirt, and red tie.
A spokesperson for SWP said: “We are now able to confirm the bike involved in the incident was a push bike. We can also confirm the cyclist stopped at the time of the incident and returned to the location after the incident to enquire how the woman was doing, but his identity is still not known.
“The pedestrian involved in the collision—a 57 year-old woman who was walking her dog at the time—was admitted to hospital but she died from her injuries on January 13.
“The cyclist is urged to contact police to assist officers who are investigating.”
Detective Inspector Dan Todd: “Our thoughts are with the family of the women who died earlier this month in hospital. We are continuing to investigate the incident and are trying to establish exactly what happened. We understand the cyclist involved was extremely concerned for the woman at the time of the incident and may not have had news of her death. We are urging that person to come forward.”
